The mission of the Institute of Agricultural and Business Digitalization is to support the professional and personal development of students in agricultural and business sciences through its research and educational activities, and to contribute to the continuous and innovative development of the business world.
One of the Institute’s cornerstones is the Department of Agricultural and Business Digitalization, which plays a crucial role in this endeavor. The other cornerstone is the Department of Quantitative Methodology, which primarily participates in teaching and applying mathematical, statistical, and econometric methods. The Institute's mission is closely aligned with the general objectives of the University of Debrecen and the Faculty of Economics and Business, which include expanding scientific knowledge, promoting sustainable development, and boosting students' practical skills.
Our cooperation partners include professional organizations, municipalities, and companies with whom we actively collaborate in numerous research and development areas. The Institute places a strong emphasis on supporting students, which includes not only high-quality education but also providing opportunities for practical experience.
The Institute’s characteristic research profiles include: Operations research and decision support methodology, focusing on incorporating uncertainty and risk in sectoral and complex agricultural decision-making. Examination of consumer and decision-maker attitudes using discrete choice modeling.
The role of management information systems in decision-making. Identifying and economically analyzing risk factors in the pig-farming sector. Sectoral economic analyses. Participation in developing an information system to support rural development decisions. Integrating crop simulation models into economic analysis systems.
Our activities center on promoting the application of digital technologies in agriculture and business, with a particular focus on the digital transformation of business processes.
Our goal is for students to understand the opportunities offered by digitalization and to be able to utilize these to address challenges in agriculture and business effectively. We manage the undergraduate program in Agricultural and Business Digitalization, where students receive training encompassing the digital aspects of agriculture and business. In addition to scientific research and education, we actively support the professional community and broader society.
