The Institute of Accounting and Finance has a multifaceted role. Our fundamental mission is to train professionals with up-to-date knowledge in accounting, finance, and controlling, who are well-versed in corporate and institutional practices and capable of continuous self-improvement. The Institute handles educational tasks related to accounting, finance, controlling, and taxation across all programs in the Faculty of Economics and Business.
The department structure aligns with these educational tasks: Department of Accounting, Department of Finance, Department of Controlling, and Department of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB). Currently, the Institute oversees the Finance and Accounting undergraduate program (responsible: Prof. Dr. Veronika Fenyves), the Accounting master's program (responsible: Dr. Ildikó Orbán), the Finance and Accounting higher education vocational program (responsible: Dr. Éva Darabos), the Sports Economist master's program (responsible: Prof. Dr. Zoltán Bács), and the Management and Business Administration undergraduate and higher education vocational programs in Hungarian, as well as the BSc in Business Administration and Management in English (responsible: Dr. Patrícia Becsky-Nagy).
A key task of the Institute is to maintain and enhance relationships and cooperation with regional companies, institutions, and professional organizations. Our key partners include National Instruments Hungary, where we also have an affiliated department, KITE, Erste Bank, OTP Bank, Deloitte, PwC, and Neopac Hungary. In the practical training of the higher education vocational (HEV) and BA programs managed by the Institute, 250-300 interns participate annually, with nearly 30% receiving job offers from their training providers. Students rate the practical training above 4.3 (on a scale of 1 to 5), while training providers rate it above 4.5 (on a scale of 1 to 5).
The Institute publishes extensively in international and national scientific and professional journals and strives to develop international educational and scientific relationships. The staff members of the Institute participate in talent management and competition organization, and their students have received numerous national awards and recognitions in recent years. Many lecturers also work as experts, consultants, and auditors in the economy, providing students with the most current market knowledge during their studies.
