The Institute of Sport Economics and Management is responsible for the bachelor's programs in sports organization and recreational organization and lifestyle, accredited in sports science at the faculty. The institute also plays a dominant role in teaching master's programs in sports economics and economics teaching, and it is certified in the field of economics.
Each semester, the institute's staff teaches nearly 40 subjects primarily related to these programs. During education, we strive to impart sports-specific knowledge (sports disciplines), organizational knowledge (sports management, recreation management, sports event organization, facility management, etc.), economic knowledge (sports economics, sports economics, sports ecology, etc.), and social sciences knowledge (sociology, sports sociology, sports pedagogy, sports psychology, etc.).
Beyond the theoretically convertible knowledge, students must also understand the expectations of the stakeholders in the sports sector. Therefore, we maintain close relationships with national sports federations and local sports clubs and organizations, primarily in Debrecen, where our students can also gain practical experience. Representatives of these organizations and internationally renowned sports professionals are often invited to give lectures, ensuring our graduates enter the job market with the most up-to-date knowledge. Students are allowed to actively participate in organizational tasks at international and domestic sports events, which also ensures practice-oriented education.
Multidisciplinary research is conducted at the institute, examining physical activity, sports, and healthy lifestyles from social, economic, and management perspectives at the micro level (individual/household), meso level (organizational/employer), and macro level (national economy).
