Dear Visitor,
A warm welcome to the renewed homepage of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Debrecen.
The Faculty website is a window to the world where everybody can find information that interests them about our community.
The history of economics studies in Debrecen stretches back several decades.
Our educational and research activities are acknowledged both here at home and internationally. Our students come from practically all parts of Hungary, from the cross-border regions we share with our neighbours, and beyond, from more than 50 other countries around the world. Additionally, our faculty’s scientific results are published and cited in the most significant international and Hungarian economic journals.
Among our graduated students are many leaders and managers of companies operating across businesses and industries – in every area in which economic knowledge can be utilised. Our alumni are represented in key positions of Hungarian and European public administration and also as professors and researchers at many institutions of higher education.
Students can choose from our portfolio, consisting of four higher-level vocational trainings, nine undergraduate programmes and fourteen graduate programmes. A significant number of our programmes are also available in English.
Graduates with Master’s degrees who are scientifically interested in Management and Business have the opportunity to pursue their Ph.D studies at the Károly Ihrig Doctoral School, and can study either in Hungarian or English.
Our Faculty offers much more than degrees in economics: we also offer programmes and courses in the fields of agriculture, sports sciences, arts and humanities, and teacher training.
In terms of number of enrolled students, our Faculty ranks first among the many at the University of Debrecen. Yet, despite our size and the diversity of our Faculty student population, we boast a cohesive student community.
Community-forming events offered by the University of Debrecen and the Faculty of Economics and Business stand out - even on a national level: among them are traditional occasions with several decades of history (e.g. the Freshmen’s Ball, the ‘Halving’ celebration, ‘Yellowing’ week or the annual student study trip to Western Europe). Talent management at our Faculty represents a unique and exemplary system, combining Faculty level opportunities, e.g. the Scientific Students’ Associations Conference (TDK), with the Talent Management Program of the University of Debrecen (DETEP), as well as membership opportunities in a number of Scholastic Honours Societies and our student mentoring programme. Our Faculty also offers deserving students a scholarship system that may even cover all their expenses during the academic year.
While organising its study programmes and research activities, the Faculty of Economics and Business monitors the current international and national economic environment and major tendencies.
The teaching and research staff of the Faculty supports learning in classes with cutting-edge examples from across economics and business, providing our students the knowledge they need to be competitive on the job market.
As a result of our wide-ranging professional social network with business and industry, we prepare analyses and reports for the for-profit sector, while engaging professionals from the business world to participate as contributors in our classrooms and lecture halls.
Adapted to the prioritised topics of the University of Debrecen, the focus of the research at the Faculty is the economic research of the health industry, the economic-market analysis of the agri-food economy, the analysis of key topics within the sports sciences, and the analysis of industrial role player competitiveness on the national and international levels.
Our Faculty’s teachers and researchers are often involved in research activities carried out at other faculties and research institutes of the University, and serve as leaders and participating colleagues in numerous international research cooperative projects and programmes.
Among the rich palette of educational, research and development, and innovation activities in which our Faculty is engaged, we consider our role in scientific outreach to be among the most crucial.
On behalf of all of the colleague and staff from all the Institutes and Departments of our Faculty, I wish you a pleasant time while browsing our website.
We are looking forward to welcoming you,
Yours faithfully,
Prof. Dr. Veronika Fenyves
Dean
