Institute of World Economy and International Relations

The world’s economy and its international relations are the Institute’s education and research focal points. These Institute areas of concentration include: international law, world economic and international business processes; and more specifically, European Union economic policy, and integration. The organisational unit actively participates in the programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business ranging from the post-graduate diploma course through BSc to MSc training, which offers core, special, and optional subjects. Many of our academic staff are committed to work in the Hungarian and English-language education programs. We carry out cross-teaching activities at other faculties of the University as well. Publishing our research results is an integral part of our activities. We have been long engaged in helping to attract more capital into the town and the county with our expertise. We offer courses in BSc International Management, MA International Economics and Business training in the framework of Hungarian and English education. Based on their advanced knowledge of the law, our graduates will be able to acquire the most up-to-date understanding of analytical work, be able to make responsible decisions regarding important world and regional economic processes and impacts. These learned skills from the institute will aid our graduates to find employment with organisations in civil society and the public sphere.

The focal teaching and research activities of the Department encompass world economic and international business processes, the theoretical and empiric analysis of international management, international trade and the movement of working capital. We also seek to prepare our students for participation in successful tenders and for knowledge transfer on the impact of international organisations and treaties.

The teaching and research profile of the Department of Business Law encompasses various areas of law and offers courses in almost all the BA, MA and post-graduate diploma courses of the Faculty.

The majority of BSc and MSc students sign up to two compulsory law courses: Economic Private Law will give an overview of the procedural and substantive legal requirements on the establishment, operation and termination of individual and corporate enterprises, whereas economic public law of the budgetary connections of natural persons and enterprises, and also the structure of the Hungarian tax-system and taxation rules. Students in post-graduate diploma courses can deepen their legal knowledge and satisfy the requirements of their specialisation. The courses will introduce labour law and social security legislation studies, banking and securities law; the law of fiscal relations offers an insight into the related theory and practice. The subject Public Administration and Organisation offers studies in the structure and basics of laws of the Hungarian public administration system and the subject Sports law in the legal system of sports enterprises. The subject Economic Private Law launched on MSc level represents another field of private law and discusses the features of trade agreements. Professional course subjects will also be launched: Employment Policy and Labour Administration and Business Contracts. In addition to subjects providing information on the system of the economic legal institutions of the Hungarian legal system, the Department also offers subjects in international legislation, such as International law, Law of international economic relations. Our courses, Company law in the European Union and European labour law help students get an understanding of social law in the European Union. The teachers of the Department carry out their education activities in English language in Business Civil Law, Business Public Law, Corporation Law in the European Union, The Law of International Economic Relations and Economic Law and students will gain a body of knowledge on the examined legal institutions. There are several course books available for students written by the tutors of the Department: Business Civil Law, Budgetary Relations of Natural Persons and Enterprises, Labour Law and Social Security Studies.

The Department of European Integration is part of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, its objective being to provide students with an overview of the knowledge of the most important correlations, decision-making opportunities and their background, the current developments of international relations, foreign policy, diplomacy, economy and foreign economic policy, and also the history of European views and cooperation, the policies and the organisational, institutional decision-making system of the European Union.
